To Mrs Romanov's daugthers: my heartfelt sympathies and condolences. I was saddened to hear of her passing today (New Haven Register). I was lucky enough to have her as a 5th and 7th grade teacher at St. Michael's School in New Haven in 1971-72 & 1973-74. I feared your mom. She was the strictest teacher I had ever had at St. Mikes. I wasn't an A student in school and I felt like I let her down because of that. In 7th grade she gave me the task of carrying her book case out to her car at the end of each school day. Again, I knew I wasn't the sharpest knife in the kitchen for her but she made me feel better by carrying out this task each day...in a way I was making up for my acedemic shortcomings. I once saw a TV talk show where the guest said: "My best teacher was the also the strictest teacher I had.". Don't remember who the guest was on that talk show but it made me realize that he was right and that's when I realized that Mrs. Romanov WAS my best teacher. She definitely had a part in molding me into an adult in those two years. My only regret now is that I didn't get a chance to tell her this while she was alive. God Bless Her!
