Obituary of Emil Peter Dochych
Emil Peter Dochych, 84, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Specialty Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center. Born in Scranton, PA, Emil became a resident of Elizabeth, NJ during his teenage years, and shortly after marriage moved to Holmdel, NJ, where he resided for the past 45 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Occupation. Emil earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. Peters University in Jersey City, NJ. He worked as a purchasing agent for various companies including IFF, Braun Chemical, M&T Chemicals, and New Jersey Bell, and earned a certification as a Certified Purchasing Manager. He eventually went into business for himself as a handyman, incorporating his love of fixing things into a successful enterprise called Handyman Services. He had many interests and was a member of various organizations, including the VFW Post 01397 in Linden, NJ, the Holy Name Society and Senior Citizens club at his church, CILU (Citizens for Informed Land Use), the Holmdel Recycling Committee, and working the polls during elections. Emil was a loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Josephine Irene; his 3 daughters Donna Gordon (Richard) of Orlando, FL, Lorraine Whitfield of Bethesda, MD, and Louise Dochych of Holmdel, NJ; his 3 grandchildren Nicole, Corey, and Erica; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Pauline, and his brother Arthur. Funeral services will be provided by Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ. Visitation hours will be on Sunday, January 20 from 2PM to 4PM, and 7PM to 9PM, with Parastas service taking place at 3PM. The funeral mass will be Monday, January 21, at 10 AM at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 684 Alta Vista Place, Perth Amboy, NJ. Burial will then follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Assumption Church; to St. Josephat's Seminary, 201 Taylor Street NE, Washington DC, 20017; or to a charity of your choice.
