He was the youngest of 8 children and of Ukraine descent. His mother Tilly was an expert cook and baker and her homemade raisin bread and perogies were truly delicious. Daniel was nicknamed “lefty” because as a young teenager he was an exceptional left-handed pitcher during his school years. Daniel married Lucille Marie Trimarco in 1955 and lived together in her family’s apartment building in the Ironbound section of Newark before relocating to Sayreville, New Jersey. Through his hard work and diligence, he was promoted to strategical warehouse manager at Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne. His career took him to New York where he was responsible for the administration of six depots, two plant sites and three maximum security vault locations containing precious metals. It was there that he developed and implemented a ground security system for the many warehouses that occupied the government compound. After successful implementation, Daniel was given the assignment to analyze and handle complex storage problems with controlled substances in Somerville, New Jersey. Daniel had 35 years of outstanding service and was awarded numerous awards from the US Army. He retired in his early fifties. After retiring from the government, Daniel became an employee of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick for many years and then was employed at Griffin Services in Edison, New Jersey. Daniel was an incredibly intelligent man, a skilled craftsman, builder and painter. Daniel enjoyed caring for his grandchildren, family vacations, landscaping his home, going to baseball games and Italian hot dogs. He is survived by his wife Lucille of 58 years; three children, Dawn Schladebeck and her husband Peter of Colts Neck, Daniel Anthony Jr. of Wilmington, NC, and Elaine Bonin and her husband Gregory of Hillsborough; four awesome grandchildren, Joseph, Jessica, Nicole and Dana; two brothers, Raymond Stecky and Michael Stecky and his many wonderful nieces and nephews.
