John P. Sheehan, M.D., 74, of Colts Neck, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. He was a retired physician who practiced and was board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Internal Medicine. In 1965, he received his medical degree from the New Jersey College of Medicine (UMDNJ) and did his residencies in the United States Public Health Service and Duke University Medical Center. Prior to retirement, he was Director of Laboratories for 20 years at Bayshore Community Hospital. Prior to that he was Director of Laboratories at East Orange General Hospital. In both hospitals he was active in the medical staff organization and its committees with special interest in quality assurance. He was chairperson of numerous committees and served as president of the medical staff at East Orange General Hospital. He served on the Board of Directors of East Orange General Hospital, Central Jersey Blood Center and the New Jersey Society of Pathologists. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Sheehan and their four children Christine, John, Alison, and Michael, and six grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 14th from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at St. Marys' R.C. Church, 1 – Phalanx Road, Colts Neck, N.J. 07722. A Funeral mass will be offered at Church on Friday morning at 10:30 A.M. Interment will then follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, N.J.
