Obituary of Pola Aspiotis
Pola Aspiotis , 61, of Colts Neck passed away at home on Tuesday morning, August 13th, 2013. She was born in Amohostos / Famagousta, Cyprus. She came to the Unites States in 1970 to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University and Montclair State College to achieve her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. Pola managed two family restaurants, and later attended Kean University where she earned a degree in Accounting and later became a CPA. Up until her retirement this past year she worked for the firm Withum Smith & Brown, CPA in Red Bank for 14 years, where she was lauded as one of their most loyal employees. In 1974 during the Turkish occupation of Cyprus, the whereabouts of her parents and her sister became unknown. She wrote a letter to President Ford, and through his assistance, the White House, and her persistence she was able to rescue her family and bring them to the United States. We will always remember her for her love and compassion for all, and her impeccable organizational skills. She loved cooking and entertaining for her family and friends while debating political and current events. She was knowledgeable on many healthy and organic choices, and was always willing to offer sound advice to all. Pola enjoyed travelling through the U.S. and Greece. Pola was predeceased by her sister Joanna Kourmouzis. She is survived by her husband Theodore Aspiotis, and her parents Savvas and Panagiota Demetriou, and her nephews George and Alexander Kourmouzis, her sister-in-law Koula and her husband George Vosinakis, nieces and nephews Nikie and George Sourlis, Bill and Sara Vosinakis, Eleni, Kyra, Teddy and Georgie, and many loved immediate family in Greece and Cyprus. Visitation will be on Friday morning at 9:30 AM at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 20 Hillcrest Road, Holmdel. The Funeral Service will begin at Church at 11:00AM. Interment will then follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel. Her family has never ending gratitude for the special care she received from her friends Zack, Roula Moros and the special care from the VNA Paliative and Hospice Aids. In lieu of sending flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The American Cancer Society, the VNA of Central New Jersey, or to Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church.
