Obituary of Donald Charles March
Donald Charles March passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived in Toms River, NJ; Cincinnati, OH and Duxbury, MA before settling in Colts Neck in 1977. Don received his Bachelor’s degree from St. Peter’s College and began his career with Gillette as a sales manager. Don continued his career at Sunbeam Instruments and went on to become the National Sales Manager for Cardinal Glove Co. Upon retirement, Don returned to his roots working for Proctor & Gamble. Donald absolutely loved being outside in his yard; planting trees and grass, picking up twigs from all those trees and walking his crazy dog Holly. He was an avid Giants fan, enjoyed watching classic movies and listening to classical music, adored going to the theater and loved going to Jersey Freeze and Ruts Hut for hotdogs. Don loved people and loved to talk with everyone he met and could often be heard giving directions whether wanted or not, earning him the title of Direction Don. Don believed that living a good life meant trying to help someone every day no matter how small the act. That was absolutely the way he lived his life. He loved getting together at family gatherings and playing with his 3 beautiful grandchildren. Donald is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Annette and his parents, Grace and Leonard March. Don is survived by his loving children, Peter March of Colts Neck, Jennifer March of Little Ferry and Elizabeth Emmett and her husband Simon of Marlboro; his three grandchildren, Jack, Ellie and Madeline Emmett, his brother and his wife, Tom and Fran March and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 PM Sunday, May 22 at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 9 AM Monday, May 23 at St. Mary’s Church, Route 34, Colts Neck. A private interment will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery, South Hackensack. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall St., Eatontown, NJ 07724.
