Pat had a big good heart for helping people anytime. When she knew that I have health problem, she immediately wrote me a good Chinese remedy. Not only that, she would continue to give me additional information whenever she met me. Eric, please take the comfort to know she died peacefully. It seemed like yesterday, but more like 30 years ago that Pat, Poy and Amy gave us an embroidered Chinese landscape picture for our new house in Michigan. It is now hanging in our 3rd. house. She was a good friend; When we talked about crafting, the enthusiastic spirit went through her eyes, it lit up on her face. That was the passion we both enjoyed. She was great a teacher; Pat sacrificed so much and asked for so little for the benefits of everyone in Chinese school and summer camps for years. She was a brave fighter; I admire her not only as a talented, generous person, but also the way she stood up to fight for herself and the family she loved. In peace, Pat. Mrs. Lau was always devoted to her work. She was self-sacrificing in a way that she took on the responsibility of teaching others at great cost for little in return. For all the years that I had known her, she always gave me small trinkets from her class if we met in the hallway. At summer camp, she taught us how to cook different dishes with such enthusiasm. She will be missed very much.

Momma Lau was an outstanding woman with so many talents. I am so grateful and blessed that I had the opportunity to know Pat, she had such a big heart and always could make you smile and loved to make you happy. When I first met Pat as a young girl, I wondered who was this person who was now the "girl" of my favorite uncle - the guy who checked my & my sisters' homework, showed us so much kindness, the model we looked up to. Well, I learned Pat was: "Giving”, Cheerful", "Happy", and “Kind”. We‘ve all experienced Pat’s warmth. She’ll always make sure you feel welcomed, and always have some bits of info or good advice to share! From the first meal she cooked for me and my sisters in her small Little Italy apartment, to the ease with which, years later, she charmed my own young daughters with her origami skills - she's always given of her loving self. Our family prays for solace for Pat’s most cherished ones. You’re in our hearts. We know your loss is great. We all feel Pat has passed too soon. Jen and family, growing up in your house was a privelege and an honor. I love your whole family like it was my own. Pat was always trying to feed me, and one time ran after me out of the house with a container of food for me to take home. She always made me laugh and she did a wonderful job raising her family with the love of her life Eric. I will miss her, and honor the promise I made and I will make her proud.
