Obituary of James J. Haggerty
James Haggerty 80, of Hazlet passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born and raised in Jersey City, Jim resided in Hazlet. Mr. Haggerty served in the US Army during the Korean War. Jim graduated from Rutgers University with a BA, and received his MBA from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He was the proud owner of Haggerty's Bar in Jersey City before retiring from the Hudson County Probation Department as a Supervisor. Jim was a proud patriot and held a strong passion for history and politics. His dedication to his family and friends will be forever cherished. He was predeceased by his parents James and Mary Haggerty, and three sisters Mary Thynne, Eileen O'Brien, and Lorraine Wilson. Surviving is his brother Donald Haggerty, brother-in-law, John Wilson, and sister-in-law, Charlotte Haggerty. He leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday 6:00 - 9:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday 9:30 AM at Holy Family R.C. Church, Union Beach.
