Obituary of Joseph R. Harris
Joseph R. Harris, 87. Of Holmdel passed away on Wednesday at the Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. Joe has been a resident of Holmdel for 54 years. He graduated from Rutgers University as a Civil Engineer. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers which included service in the Korean War. He worked as a Civil Engineer and worked on many projects which include the expansion of the Garden State Parkway. In 1973, he started his landscape company, Holmdel Farms. He was a member of the Holmdel Kiwanis Club for many years. Joe was predeceased by his wife Joyce Harris to whom he was married for 46 years at the time of her passing. Surviving are his 7 sons, Joseph and Thomas of Orlando, FL, David of Colts Neck, Michael of Hood River, OR, John of Gainesville, FL, Edward and Charles of Holmdel; his sister Dorothy Rubino of Morristown, and his 17 grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel on Friday, May 20th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Benedict R.C. Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. Interment will then follow at the Holmdel Cemetery.
