Thomas J. McGowan, of Colts Neck, NJ, passed away on November 20, at age 75. Born in Newark, NJ, he graduated from Rutgers University and settled in Monmouth County in 1966, after proudly serving in the U.S. Navy. Tom focused his entire career in maritime insurance, many years as President of Shipowners Claims Bureau. He enjoyed sailing, playing golf, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Julie McGowan, his daughter Jacqueline McGowan and daughter Jennifer Manville, her husband Ryan Manville, and grandchildren Maxine and Jack, his sisters Fay McGowan and Anne Jones, and brother Jack McGowan. A memorial visitation will be held at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel on November 25, 2016, from 3:00-7:00 pm with a service being offered at 6:15 pm. Interment service on November 29, 2016 at 11:30 am at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
