Obituary of Judith E. Joyce
***Due to inclement weather the funeral schedule has been changed, please see obituary below*** Judith Elizabeth Joyce, 81, of Colts Neck passed away on February 4th. Judith was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn to Edith Bogert and John J. Ferry, who have pre-deceased her. She graduated from Hunter College HS for Girls in NYC and received a BS degree from College Misericordia in Dallas, PA. She taught grade school in the East Meadow, NY school system until her children were born. Judith was a loving wife and mother who was actively involved in her children's activities. An avid reader who loved crossword puzzles, she enjoyed gardening, the theatre and volunteering with the elderly. She traveled the world extensively and especially enjoyed cruising. Judith enjoyed her vacation home in Killington, VT and enjoyed many summer days on the beaches in New Jersey and elsewhere. For many years she was actively involved in many of the ministries at St. Mary's Church in Colts Neck. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Elizabeth S. Joyce in 1982, her daughter-in-law Karen M. Joyce in 1996 and her brother John Richard Ferry in 2012. Judith is survived by her beloved husband Joseph of 59 years; loving children, Timothy J. (Beth) Joyce of San Francisco, CA, Joseph F. Joyce, Jr., Stamford, CT and Laura J. (Marco) Chapas, of Union City; 8 grandchildren, Brendan, Claire and Brian Joyce, Lauren (Randall) Parker, Ryan and Alanna Joyce, Aidan and Brenna Chapas; and 2 great grandchildren, Olivia and Cameron Parker. Visitation Wednesday, Feb. 8th, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, Feb. 10th, 10:30 am, at St. Mary's RC Church, Colts Neck. Interment will follow at the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport. Contributions in Judith's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
