Obituary of Frank L. Laughlin

Frank L. Laughlin 88, of Neptune passed away March 6, 2011 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. Born and raised in Keyport, he also lived in Holmdel prior to moving to Neptune in 2001. Frank was educated in the Keyport School System, and enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942. He served in North Africa and Italy with the 15th Air Force, and was honorably discharged in 1945 and later served with the Air Force Reserves. With his wife Claire, Frank founded the Bayshore Stationers in Keyport in 1948, retiring in 1990. Mr. Laughlin was a current member of the Spring Lake Golf Club, and served six years as Secretary of the Board of Directors. He was also a lifetime member of the St. John's United Methodist Church of Hazlet, and was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port St. Lucie, FL Frank was also active in many other organizations which include, President of the Liberty Hose Fire Company and the Keyport Kiwanis Club. Member of Keyport Boro Council, Keyport Chamber of Commerce, and the Keyport Board of Education for 12 years, 5 as President, and was appointed to the Advisory Board of Colonial First Bank in Keyport. He was member of the Keyport Legion Senior Housing Project, where he served for 28 years as member and President. Former member of the Holmdel Republican County Committee, served as a member of the Bayshore Community Hospital Foundation, and a member of the PGA Country Club in Port St. Lucie, Fl. Frank was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife Claire, son Glenn, and brother Harold. Surviving are his daughters Sharon Laughlin, of Atlantic Highlands and Carol Menges, and her husband Louis, of Holmdel, sisters Mildred Laughlin and June Zweiacher and her husband Norman, sister-in-law Audrey Mocci, and 4 grandchildren Kelly, Ryan, Matthew, and Melissa. Visitation will be held Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday 10:00AM at St. John's United Methodist Church, Hazlet. Entombment will be in the Holmdel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mr. Laughlin's name to St. John's United Methodist Church, 2000 Florence Avenue, Hazlet, NJ 07730
