Obituary of Joseph R. Rec
JOSEPH R. REC, 96, of Holmdel passed away on Tuesday, February 16th. Born in Bayonne, he lived in Bloomfield, Clinton MD, and Whiting NJ prior to moving to Holmdel, 5 years ago. Mr. Rec served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps from1942 to 1945. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant. He travelled in England, France, Africa and the Holy Land. He was a member of the Ultra Secret. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Rec was Director of Safety for the World Telegram & Sun in New York. He was a talented artist, enjoyed working outdoors and genuinely enjoyed helping anyone in need. He was always a gentle and loving man who taught us all wonderful things about life. He was predeceased by his two brothers Peter and John Rec Jr., by his four sisters Bertha Banack, Louise Saboy, Alice Rec, and Lorraine Iskrycki. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years Lottie (nee Lewandowski), by a sister Helen Mazur of West Virginia, by a nephew Robert Palace and his wife Diane, of Palmyra, PA and their children Matthew and Michael, by a niece Patricia and her husband Albert Kole, and their children Kelly and Shelley of Aberdeen, and a niece Dorothy Saboy of Ocean County NJ., a nephew Adam Banack of PA, and by many other nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews, Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Mr. Rec on Friday at 10:00AM at St. Elizabeth Anne Seton RC Church in Whiting, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations made in his memory would be appreciated – St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 – St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105-1942
