George P. Thomas 79, of Hazlet passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. Born in Jersey City, George has lived in Hazlet for the past 17 years. Mr. Thomas served in the United States Navy Reserves aboard the USS Missouri. He worked as a truck driver for Penn Yan Express in Carlstadt, retiring in 1986. Mr. Thomas was predeceased by his 2 brothers John Flora and Frank Thomas. Surviving is his wife Evelyn Thomas (nee Olivier), daughter Mary Esther Thomas Satterfield, 3 brothers James, Robert, and Raymond Thomas, sister Flora Thomas Johnson, 3 grandchildren Benjamin Thomas Satterfield, Kiersten Satterfield Bechtoldt, and Trevor Thomas Satterfield, and 3 great grandchildren Tyne, Ezra, and Kyra Bechtoldt. Visitation will be held Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Committal Service will be held Wednesday 11:00AM at the Holmdel Cemetery.
