Obituary of William Koleniak
William Koleniak, 91 of Colts Neck died on Friday June 3rd at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Mr. Koleniak was born and raised in the Bronx, where he graduated from Norman Thomas High School, formerly Central Commercial High School. Following high school he served in the US Army-Air Corp. He retired as a 2nd grade detective from the NYPD in 1966 after serving 20 years. While on the police force he was assigned to the bureau of Criminal Investigation and was a fingerprint expert. Following his service to NYPD, Mr. Koleniak became an inspector for the U.S. Treasury Department, where he retired in 1981. Following his retirement he and his wife Catherine D. Koleniak moved to Holmdel. As a young man he played on the Pivots Basketball Club, the Bronx. He was an avid golfer, he loved to travel and fish as well enjoying summers at the beach. Mr. Koleniak loved music and attending the theatre with his wife. He was a member of the Colts Neck Senior Citizens Club. His family was his life, and his adored wife, the love of his life, Catherine Quigley Koleniak, who died in 2013; and his sister, Marie Disanza. Surviving are his children, Michael Koleniak and Gregg and his wife Elizabeth Koleniak; five daughters, Jeanne Burns, Barbara and her husband John Gignoux, Donna and her husband Michael Icovino, Denise and her husband Michael Wigdor and Linda and her husband Raymond Dolan; his sister, Diana Andress; 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. Koleniak’s family would like to thank Dr. Dale Edlin and Dr. Mayur Kumar Patel, the case managers at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Northwest Pavilion Nursing staff and the Hospice team. Visitation will be held on Monday, 5-9 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 9:15 am at St. Catharine’s R.C.
