Obituary of Carmen L. Santonello
Carmen L. Santonello, 90, of Colts Neck, passed away on Friday morning at the Jersey Shore University medical Center in Neptune, surrounded by his loving family He was born in Hoboken and settled in Colts Neck, in 1972. He served his country proudly. In World War II, he was in the Us Army, and trained for the African Invasion, and was involved in the invasion of Sicily, where he received several commendations and ribbons. In 1947, Mr. Santonello founded and was President of Santell Coat and Apron, later called Santell Sanitary, which grew into the largest linen supply service in New Jersey – Santell Sanitary Linen Service. After retirement he was the Chief Consultant of the Company. He was a member of Club Revere in Hoboken, the Dante Aligeri Club, and was a proud member of the Optimist Club. He was also on the Advisory Board of Broad National Bank. He made many, many friends through all of the organizations of which he was a member. He was known to his loving family, friends and employees as 'The Chief'. He loved to play golf, but more importantly he loved being with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mr. Santonello is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Sarah T. (nee Fitzpatrick) Santonello, his son Brian and his wife Mona of Colts Neck, his daughter Carol and her husband Rick Lame of Monmouth Beach, daughter Sharyn Santel of Rehoboth Beach, DE., and daughter Bonnie and her husband Dr. Robert Satty of Holmdel, and by his 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, He is also survived by his brother Frank Santonello Visitation will be on Sunday, August 15th, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 – South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, August 16th at 9:00 A.M. at St. Marys' R.C.Church, Highway 34 at Phalanx Road, Colts Neck. Entombment will then follow at the Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, Holmdel. In lieu fo flowers donations in his memory would be appreciated – St. Judes Childrens Hospital 501 – St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
