Obituary of William Alicea

Pop, “Will”, William Alicea, Sr. 86, passed this past Tuesday morning, October 11, 2016 in Orlando Florida. He was born August 30, 1930 to Angelica and Antonio Alicea in Manhattan’s upper west side into a Puerto Rican house filled with music and Passion. On November 18, 1951 he married Blanca Navarro, “Miss Puerto Rico”, 1947, in NYC. Will loved his Latin music and all things electronic. He was a known figure in the west side (NYC) studios of CBS (Channel 2), Unitel Video and Channel 13 from 1962 – 1998, where he helped design and build all types of broadcast media technologies, including in house and remote editing suites for News shows and entertainment. After retiring he turned his detailed eye towards sculpture and painting. Will was always there to help family and friends with whatever they needed him for. Survivors include his sons William A. Alicea of NY, John Alicea of North Carolina, Daughter Beverly Alicea of New Jersey, 7 grandchildren, Luc, Margaux, Britany, Keli, Alexandra, John Jr., and Lynn, and sister Lillian Alicea/Vasquez of Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Wally & Papo Alicea and one sister Gloria Rodriguez. Visitation will be held Friday October, 15th 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 Holmdel Road. Holmdel NJ. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday October 16th at 10:00 am at St. Clement’s RC Church, 172 Freneau Avenue, Matawan. Entombment will follow at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.
