Athena Politis 96, of Holmdel passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 with her family by her side at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Andros, Greece Athena came to the United States in 1946. Mrs. Politis sponsored many relatives to become U.S. Citizens, and was a member of the Andros Society, and Kimisis Tis Theotokou G.O. Church in Holmdel. Mrs. Politis was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother Athena was predeceased by her husband Thomas, son-in-law Emmanuel Vastardis, grandson Demetrios Vastardis, sister Maria, and brothers, Jack, Louis, and Anthony, Surviving are her daughter Irene Vastardis, of Holmdel, sons, John Politis and his wife Maryann, of Holmdel, and Stavros Politis and his wife Maria, of Athens, Greece, and 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday 4:30PM at Kimisis Tis Theotokou G. O. Church 20 Hillcrest Road, Holmdel. Burial will take place in Andros, Greece.
