Elizabeth Torman

Obituary of Elizabeth Mary Torman

Elizabeth Mary Torman, 90 of Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away Friday morning at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.

Elizabeth, known as Liz or Lizzie to most, was born in Jersey City and raised in Jersey City and North Bergen, NJ.  She raised her family in Jersey City, before relocating to Tinton Falls, NJ 30 years ago.  She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories Church in Jersey City, NJ.

Being with her family was Lizzie’s greatest joy.  She was the matriarch and center of her family and was loved in an unmeasurable way.  She was loving, funny, strong, bold, kind, and selfless.  Anyone who had the opportunity to know her, knew she put her family and friends first.  Being the second youngest of eight, she knew the importance of being together for every holiday, birthday, Sunday dinner, BBQ, and family celebration.  If you were a part of her family or friends, you knew how deeply she cared for you.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whether it be in person or over the phone.  She never missed a beat, remembering everyone’s birthdays.  The memories of her rendition of “Happy Birthday” as she sang it to us will always be remembered.  She loved to cook and her family favorite was her eggplant parmigiana.  She loved to read books, do crossword puzzles and socialize with her many friends in the community where she lived.  She was truly a blessing to us all and will be missed terribly.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Torman.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Paul and his wife Gail, Cheryl and her husband Joseph, Diane and Anthony, and Elaine and her husband Vincent. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Adrienne and her husband Jonathan, Amanda and her husband Derek, Camille and her husband Sean, Andréa and her husband Robert, Vincent, Joseph, Nicholas and Christina; her great grandchildren, Sean, Jonathan Robert, Olivia, William, and Robert Joseph; her sister, Yolanda Battaglino, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Due to the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 virus all services will be private. Once the situation is resolved a memorial service will be announced for friends and family to attend and to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Torman.
