Matthew Kassardy, 39, of Middletown passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. Born in Long Branch, Matthew was brought up in LBI before moving to Middletown where he resided for 25 years. Matthew attended Middletown South, and began working as a commercial fisherman in Barnegat Light, then Point Pleasant. He specialized in scalloping and excelled in his field. Matt also had a tree removal business, and was an avid hunter. He was a loving son and brother and an especially devoted father to his daughter Lindsay. Matthew is predeceased by his father Michael Kassardy, and his brother Michael Kassardy. Surviving are his mother Marjorie Kassardy; his daughter Lindsay Kassardy; Lindsay's mother, Kathy Pudlo; his sister Meghan Carr, Rumson and her husband David and their children, Maggie, David Jr., Brody, and Christian; and cousins Colin and Ian Yarnell, Maine. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 P.M. at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel.
