Obituary of Bernard A. Bavaschi
U.S.Army Air Corps Veteran - World War II Bernardo Antonio Bavaschi, 94, passed peacefully at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 with his loving family by his side. Ben was born in New York, NY on November 19th, 1916. He was married to his wife, Sue, for 68 years and is predeceased by her. He is survived by his daughters, Catherine and Phyllis, their husbands Rick Mazzariello and Tom Mickelsen. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II and embodied the characteristics of the men and women that later became known as the Greatest Generation. He remained through most of his career with the U.S. Navy and was responsible for early testing at sea for the Trident Nuclear Submarine Development. Ben was loved by many and had such a positive outlook on life that he was an inspiration to all who knew him. He overcame many health issues in his later years to always be there as primary caretaker for his wife and to always support and love his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a builder of dollhouses for the little girls in his life and barns and lighthouses for the little boys. He delighted in all things around him and genuinely appreciated the phone calls and visits he received from his family and friends. He always said he wanted to have a big party on his 100th birthday. So, you are all invited to his birthday bash on November 19th, 2016. Ben and his family thank his many doctors, nurses and care givers for their wonderful care.
