Obituary of John C. Mills
Life Member - Disabled American Veterans JOHN C. MILLS, 83, of HOLMDEL, died peacefully on Sunday, November 15th, 2009 at the Meridian Rehabilitation Center, in Shrewsbury. He was born December 12th, 1925 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Irene and Earle Mills. He graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi, Alpha Tau Chapter. He served in the Army during World War II. He retired in may 1987 from Liquid Carbonic, where he was production manager. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Matawan. He was a member of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, the Steamship Historical Society, the Monmouth County Historical Society, and a Life member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a major contributor to a book published by the Monmouth County Historical Society about the history of the local Bayshore steamboats. John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Dean Mills; two sons and daughters in law Craig and Debbie Mills of Middletown, and Roger and Emily Mills of Pooler, Georgia; four grandchildren Robin Mills of Hightstown, Steven Mills and his wife, Laura of laurel, Maryland, and Sarah Mills and Lindsey Fortner of Pooler, Georgia; and a great granddaughter Anna Fortner. Visitation will be at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, at 11:00AM. Interment will then follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations many be made in his memory to the First Baptist Church of Matawan, 232 – Main Street, Matawan, N.J. 07747.
