Obituary of Alfonso J. Gallipani
Alfonso J. Gallipani 88, of Lakewood, formerly of Brooklyn, NY passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born in Brooklyn, NY Alfonso resided in Lakewood, NJ. Mr. Gallipani was an Army Veteran of World War II having served with 118th Infantry Regiment in the ETO. He was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge and awarded a Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat. He retired from the Daily News after working 35 years. Mr. Gallipani was an accomplished musician, specializing in the Accordion and Keyboard. His passion in life was to make people happy thru his music, which he did very well. Alfonso was predeceased by his 1st wife Louise Gallipani in 1995, 2 sisters, Tessie Zito and Josie Ciccone, and a brother Michael Gallipani. Surviving is his devoted wife of 13 years Poppy Wajda Gallipani, 2 sons Frank Gallipani, and his wife MaryAnne, and Bruce Gallipani, and his wife Ruby, 5 grandchildren Frank, Nicholas, Kristen, Alyssa, and Bianca, and a loving extended family. Visitation will be held Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christen Burial will be offered Thursday 10:30AM at Mary Mother of God R.C. Church, New Monmouth. Interment will be in Milltown Rural Cemetery, Brewster, NY.
