Gerard Albanese, 84, of Middletown passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, surrounded by his loving family. Gerard was the beloved husband of sixty-five years to Viola (Vicki) Albanese. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Albanese was retired after more than a fifty-year career as an insurance broker, specializing in rare string instruments, and was most recently employed at Total Dollar Insurance in New York, NY. Gerard loved life and was always telling jokes and sharing funny stories drawn from his many years living and working in New York City. He loved sports, especially NFL football and his beloved NY Giants. He was a season ticket holder for over twenty years and was thrilled to see them in person win two Super Bowls. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had a tremendous work ethic and was a true role model for his family. He loved to travel and felt blessed that he had the opportunity to return to Italy to see his late mother's hometown. He loved spending Sunday afternoons with his family around the dinner table. He cared about all those around him. He will be missed by all. Along with his wife, he is survived by three sons, Ronald and his wife, Teena Albanese of Hoover, AL, Gerard and his wife, Kathleen Albanese of Richmond, VA, and Christopher and his wife, Jennifer Albanese of Lynnfield, MA; four daughters, Mina Albanese of Princeton, NJ, Sussan Thunberg of Parsippany, NJ, Veronica and her husband, Donald Dahl of Ocean, NJ, and Marian and her husband, Mark Tryba of Manalapan, NJ; his sisters Mary Porzongolo and Rose Pepe; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews, who lovingly knew him as Uncle Charlie. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday 9:15AM at St. Catharine R.C. Church, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel. Entombment will be in St. Gabriel Cemetery, Marlboro. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to either St. Jude Childrens Hospital, P.O.
