We had two Uncle Ken's in our family in our parent's generation. Both had a terrific run at being world-class uncles. One was my father Ken McClave, Jr. Much on a positve note has been expressed for his uncling skills. Today it is time to sing (what an appropriate word for our beloved uncle) the praises of Kenneth Clark. Although he was by profession a scientist, an expert chemist, and by nature precise and methodical, full of logic and curiosity, Ken had a good bit of the artist in him. Alternating with Uncle Will he played the piano and with his voice would have improved any barber shop quartet, professional or amateur. Like Leonardo he was a model builder, whose works included a spot-on replica of the house on Lake Bomoseen, complete with vintage slides set behind the windows. In addition to being scientist/researcher and artist, Ken was above all else a great humanitarian, whose mission and passion in life was care-giving. He cared for and provided for his wife Ginnie and their ten children. Later he cared for his grandchildren and after Ginnie left us, he turned his attention and love to his companion of decades, Joan. That's why I firmly believe that after he arrived in heaven, after he was re-united with a beautiful healthy Ginnie, he asked around for someone who needed help, and got back to his central mission and passion. In our far-flung diverse family we will continue to be inspired by both Uncle Ken's intelligence and wit and his compassion and service to those in need--in other words, everyone. May God bless Uncle Ken, Ginnie and Joan, and the Clark family.

Must be in 4th grade. A throw together Christmas assembly. A short woman with a microphone talking about a chorus director. I thought I heard Mr. Clark. She snakes her way from the front all the way to the back where I'm trying to look as small as possible. She asks me to go and get Ken to lead the chorus. She assures me that they will wait there. I run home to tell pop and he comes down. Up front, pitting one side of the isle against the other, he leads the auditorium in carols. Throwing in humorous cracks along the way. Big smile, lively step, he brought life to the assembly. What I thought would be a moment of embarrassment was one of pride. A kind man of many talents. What it takes to raise children I wouldn't know. If it requires perseverance and countless sacrifices I don't have to look far for proof. Happy to have called you father. Proud to be your son. Well-deserved. Eternal rest.

So sad to hear of Uncle Kenny’s passing. We have such great memories of Uncle Ken, always smiling and telling jokes. I remember him enjoying everything about music, whether just listening, playing the piano with Uncle Will, on his own or being our very own conductor. We had some great family parties with Uncle Ken being one of the main entertainers. He was truly a kind and caring man. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of our Clark cousins and their families. Uncle Ken will be missed by all. We hope that your wonderful memories of your father’s life will provide each of you with some comfort. With love, Diane, Tom and the Murphy family.

I had a tremendous amount of respect for my Uncle Ken. He was a talented and accomplished man, excelling in both the R&D and music arenas. I can fondly recall him playing piano in a number of relatives homes. I always admired him for raising 10 children. My family had 5 children which I thought a challenge for my parents, ten was just double the trouble. But Ken carried on admirably and was always trying to mentor his children to be successful. He certainly spent a lot of time with all of them and he cohabitated with many of them as adults. I always found Kenny easy to speak with and a stand up guy. I know that my father was fond of Kenny and they and many of my aunts and uncles would take regularly scheduled trips to Atlantic City. My father appreciated Kenny driving them all in a nice van. I never had the pleasure of attending one of these AC trips but there were always many good stories to be listened to. The last time I really had a good heart to heart talk with Ken was at the funeral home in Watchung where my father was laid out for viewing. Ken had a nice summary of all the good times he experienced with my Dad and was very much "in the moment". Ken was struggling himself and wanted to be away from the crowd so we talked out in the back door foyer for a good 15 minutes or so. I very much enjoyed that conversation. I think Ken lived a very proper life and could be proud of how he conducted himself. He was a scientific intellectual who also had an appreciation for the musical arts. He reached high in trying to raise a large family and he fathered some fantastic children. He was a very social man who was always respectful of others while knowing how to have a good time. In a word, his life was exemplary. I wish all the family the best! Anyone who knew Ken is undoubtedly proud and fortunate to have shared time on the planet with him. Michael Gough. ( Ken's Nephew )

my recollection of Uncle Ken is as a craftsman (he built a small wooden model of the "other" Ken's house at Lake Bomoseen), a scientist/chemist (at Colgate-Palmolive), and as a wonderful caring father and husband, who raised a great family with his loving wife, Virginia (Ginny). In a family as large as ours sometimes it is easy to go unnoticed. That would be a mistake with Uncle Ken as he was very analytical and very interesting in his observations and in his exchanges with family members. And he had a wicked, wonderful sense of humor! They say that when someone close to us dies we lose a little piece of us. I think Ken's advice to us all would be don't dwell on my passing. Continue to expand your horizons. Be EVERYTHING you were intended to be. Maximize your potential. In short, LIVE! I think we should all heed his wise advice. -Ken's Nephew (Chris McClave)
