Obituary of John A. Budnick
John A. Budnick, Jr., 88, Pompano Beach, FL, passed away Thursday, October 26th.
Mr. Budnick served his country honorably as a Cryptanalytic Specialist in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge from the Army, he was the owner and operator of Budnick’s Esso gas station on the corner of Bethany and Holmdel Road. John was an entrepreneur and built his own home on Telegraph Hill Road in Holmdel. He was a realtor for Applebrook Agency in Middletown. After retiring from the real estate business, he purchased Laird Stationery in Fair Haven NJ which was run by his family until recently closing. During his retirement, John traveled back and forth from Florida to New Jersey where he also had a residence in Highlands NJ. However, John was never more happier and content than when he was in “sunny” Florida.
Mr. Budnick was predeceased by his wife, Jean, in 1996. Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, John A. Budnick, III, Atlantic Highlands and Robert & Rose Budnick, Brick; his daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah & Robert Montanelli, Brick and Diane & Andrew McCool, Freehold; and his grandchildren Dana, Dara, Deanna, Kelly, Christina, Grace, Matthew, Ashley, Travis, and Dylan. He is also survived by his companion, Benita Ferrara of Florida.
Visitation Monday, October 30th 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, October 31st at 9:15 am at Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel. Entombment Holmdel Mausoleum.
