Obituary of Arthur M. Broder
Arthur M. Broder, 91, of Holmdel passed away at home on Wednesday evening, September 27, 2017.
Born in Passaic, Arthur lived in Passaic and Wayne before moving to Holmdel in 1971. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oberlin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
After graduation, he took over the family’s retail shoe business, ultimately opening Florsheim shoe stores in shopping malls throughout the state.
Arthur was an avid boater, and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends on the water. He loved music, the theater, and traveling.
He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Rose. He is survived by his with wife of 59 years, Marilyn, his son Ben of Freehold, his daughter Michele of Ardmore, PA and her wife Helen, and grandchildren Jaye and Mollie.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday September 29, 2017 at the Holmdel Funeral Home, followed by interment at King Solomon Memorial Park in Clifton, NJ.
In lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made in his name to Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey.
