Charlotte Clime (formerly Schatzle), 79 of Colts Neck left our world on Saturday June 17th in Winter Haven, Florida, while vacationing with friends. Charlotte was born January 7, 1938 as the precious only child of Leslie George and Margaret Marcella (Fagan) Clime at home on Rockland Street in Philadelphia PA. She was cared for in her early days and still loved, by her cherished “Aunt” Dorothy M. Buzzard, of Philadelphia, PA. Charlotte spent carefree summers in Browns Mills, NJ. at her Nannie Clime’s cabin. The rest of her days were spent at Miss Eugena’s School of Dance were she became an accomplished dancer and teacher of dance for many years. “Miss Charlotte” opened her first School of Dance in 1954, at the tender age of 16, toured the country with dance troupes and continued on to have three studio locations throughout the Philadelphia area. An unfortunate automobile accident forced the end of that career in 1967. Charlotte and her family moved to Colts Neck in 1968 where she worked tirelessly to keep and raise her children in the pastoral town where she lived out her life. Both Charlotte and her mother, known to all as “Nanny Clime”, worked throughout town as babysitters and caregivers to an entire generation of Colts Neck’s children. Both kind and sweet women are loved and missed by so many. During this time, Charlotte even earned her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree and continued to serve those in need for many years. Charlotte answered to many names throughout her lifetime – “Miss Charlotte”/ Mom / Grandma Charlotte / G.C. / just G / Ya Ya / and finally G.G., -- but always Friend. It was not uncommon for her children to hear, after a hello, – “How’s your mother? She’s one of the sweetest and kindest people we know!” Charlotte’s kindness was evident through her dedication to service to others. From the time she arrived in Colts Neck she began her volunteerism by being a Girl Scout Leader, a Member and officer of The Woman’s Club of Colts Neck, a fundraiser and volunteer at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, Cub Scout Den Mother, Colts Neck Fair Committee Member, and Founder and Chairwoman of “The Great American Apple Pie Contest”, sponsored by The Woman’s Club of Colts Neck. that took place at the Colts Neck Fair and now at the Colts Neck fireworks celebration. Charlotte’s children invite you to bake an apple pie, in her honor, to bring to this year’s contest on July 3rd at Bucks Mill Park in Colts Neck – Drop off your pie at 5PM. Surviving to carry on her message of kindness and servant leadership, are her three children; Debi Schatzle Baker of Waterbury, CT., Cindi Westendorf and her husband Russell of Colts Neck and former Colts Neck Mayor Jim Schatzle of Colts Neck; her “half dozen” grandsons, Bryan Baker and his wife Kerri of Waterbury CT., Captain Daniel Westendorf and his wife Laura of San Diego CA., Nicholas Westendorf of Houston TX., Chase Westendorf of Houston TX, Jimmy Schatzle of Colts Neck and Jack Schatzle of Colts Neck. Also left behind to remember their G.G., are Charlotte’s newest loves, her great grandchildren, Drew and Maggie Baker of Waterbury CT. Memorial services and Celebration of Life Sunday June 25th, 3:00 PM at the Colts Neck Reformed Church, 139 County Rd. 537, Colts Neck.
