Dorothy Elizabeth Johnston, age 100, departed this world Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from her loving home at The Willows in Holmdel, New Jersey. She had been a resident of Holmdel for the past five years, and while she lived there she enjoyed the company of many friends, nurses, and aids who became her extended family. Dorothy was born to Louis and Ellen Cohen from Staten Island, New York and was raised there along with nine siblings. She married Raymond Johnston in 1937 and had two daughters, Diane and Linda and remained in Staten Island until they moved in 1980 to Toms River, New Jersey. Dorothy and Raymond enjoyed living in their new home in a quaint adult community in Toms River where they participated in many activities. Dorothy enjoyed singing, gardening, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family. Dorothy is survived by her loving daughter Diane Demola, seven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. Visitation Friday May 5, 2017, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Entombment to follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
