Americo “Rick” Penna, 95, passed away Sunday November 13 in Freehold, New Jersey. Rick was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He was a Lieutenant and Navigator in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII, flying 26 missions in Europe. Rick was an entrepreneur, a Kentucky Colonel and a poet, but above all, a family man. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family. Rick was predeceased by his wife Ruth in 2004. Surviving are his children MaryAnn Becker and husband Victor, Sondra Fabozzi and husband Frederick, Lisa Calabrese and husband Richard; grandchildren Jonathan and Adrienne Fabozzi, Jacqueline and Bryan DiDonato, Elizabeth and Andrew Mahnken, Jeffrey and Jena Calabrese, Lauren Calabrese, Victoria Becker; great granddaughter Ava Calabrese; and caregiver Gina Carbon. Visitation on Thursday, November 17 from 5 to 8pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 18 at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Church, 1 Phalanx Road, Colts Neck. Entombment to follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel.
