Dear Aunt Annette, Vincent, Joy & other family members, My fondest memories of Uncle Vinnie were around the holidays, during the annual family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Uncle Vinnie was always the center of attention at the table with his outgoing personality - always making everyone laugh with his stories or just doing goofy things. Every gathering he was guaranteed to get laughs. But just as guaranteed was seeing him taking a nap on a nearby comfortable chair after the meal. It never failed! Uncle Vinnie also happens to be my godfather. For many summers as a kid back in the 60's I would spend a week with Vincent and the family in Hazlet and then later in Holmdel. They were always weeks every summer I looked forward to. During those years, I was always treated like another son and I was very fortunate of all the fun places we always went. To this day, I have only gone deep sea fishing once in my life and that was with Uncle Vinnie. He also took Vincent & I to "Bat Day" in the mid 60's at Yankee Stadium. I cannot recall the actual day's events, but for many years later, I treasured that Tom Tresh bat I got that day. Thank you Uncle Vinnie for these fond memories and many others! My sympathy goes out to all of his family.

Dear Aunt Annette, Vincent, Joy, and families, All those years ago, I always looked forward to the Caprio/Ervelli family gatherings in Hazlet and the later Thanksgiving feasts in Holmdel. One thing remained constant at all all times. Uncle Vinnie's laugh could fill any room and he made all of those times truly joyous occasions. Laughter is good medicine for the soul. Nowadays, my laughter can fill a room, my classroom, and even the hallways of my school. Sometimes, people ask why do you laugh so much? From now on, my response will always be-That's what my uncle Vinnie taught me. His wit, charm, and intelligence will be sorely missed. My heartfelt condolences to all of you.

Vince was a very special friend of ours here at Lake Highlander. We enjoyed many occasions of fellowship with him which frequently included his delicious cooking. He enjoyed teasing (especially at the pool) which was done in a brotherly fashion. There was no one else quite like Vince. When we visited him during his illness he always ask us to pray and then together quote the 23rd Psalm. He will be missed so very, very much.

We knew Vinnie as “Joy’s dad”. We enjoyed the pleasure of his company many times, especially celebrating his birthday over the years, on the 4th of July, which was very fitting for him. He was a great storyteller, lighthearted, and funny. He engaged people of all ages. His presence will be missed by all who knew him. My heart goes out to the Caprio and Ressani families for this great loss. May your faith sustain you. Love, George, Christine, George Jr & Christian

Vincent and his family merged with our family over 36 years ago, and he became my Step-father in November 1977. Even back then, I knew it was not easy for Vincent to become a stepfather of three and that he would indeed face challenges and additional responsibilities. However, due to Vincent’s outgoing and gregarious nature, our families soon became intertwined. Vincent was one of the most caring individuals I have ever met. I have seen him through the eyes of a adolescent, young woman, adult, to mid-life adulthood. I am extremely thankful for every day we had with him. I am grateful for the guidance and wisdom he has given me throughout the years. Most of which, have been passed down to my child, and my grandchildren. There was a point when I realized Vincent took us (Dolores’ 3 children) out of choice and love. On Father’s Day, June 21, 2009, I called Vincent and it was difficult for him to speak, I said, Vincent, don’t talk. I just called to talk to you, you don’t need to talk to me. I then told him what was going on with Christine and the great-grandkids Keegan, Kaylee & Anthony. I let him know I went to my mom’s gravesite and put flowers on it, as he did every year since she passed away. I told him he needed to get better because I received something he needed to look at. He then sort of laughed. I told him Happy Father’s Day and that I loved him. There have been many homes, moves, states, countries, a lot of cuts, scrapes, bruises, tears, births, marriages, divorces, deaths, 9 Grandchildren, and 8 Great-children, and now it is the end of an era. There will never be another like him. My heart aches and my tears flow for indeed my dad, Vincent, is also gone.

Dear Vincent, Joy and families: I had the pleasure of Mr. Caprio's company on one occasion. It was clear to me that he was a man cut from a special cloth. The loss of someone like your father is difficult to measure. Patriot, service, family, honor. These are the values he represented in both word and deed. He shall be missed. With deepest symapthy, Edward and Beth Youdell

Dear Ressani and Caprio Families, I have come to know Vinny through my friendship with Joy. Vinny was a vibrant person who cared about others and was always willing to help. Whenever I saw and talked to Vinny, there was a warmth he emitted. He had a great way with words and story telling. He also had an incredible analytical mind with a very unique perspective-- and boy oh boy, he made me laugh, and laugh, and laugh!! I will miss Vinny, but I do take comfort in knowing that heaven has welcomed an angel, and now he will be sharing his infectious laugh and perspective with others for eternity. I’m thinking of you in my prayers. With loving hugs and fondest regards and heartfelt blessings. Tina
