Concetta 'Connie' DeVito, 95, of Colts Neck, NJ, passed away on October 20, 2010 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. Connie was born on October 15, 1915 in Newark, NJ. She married her husband, Fred DeVito, in 1936 and raised their five children while living in East Orange, NJ before moving to Colts Neck, NJ in 1969. Connie worked for the Colts Neck School System for 41 years and was affectionately called the 'lunch lady' by the thousands of students whose lives she touched. Connie was predeceased by her husband Fred, granddaughter Donna DeVito and grandson David Byers. She is loved, will be missed and survived by, her children Mrs. Irma Byers, Mr. & Mrs. Ermin and Marie DeVito, Mr. & Mrs. Donald and Peggy DeVito, Mr. & Mrs. Bob and Judy Pizzichillo, Mrs. Rena Smith, as well as 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday October 22, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel . A Funeral Mass will be offered 10:00AM on Saturday October 23, 2010 at Saint Leo the Great R.C. Church, Lincroft, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Concetta DeVito's name to the following charities which were near and dear to Connie's heart: Cooley's Anemia Foundation, American Cancer Society, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Donation slips will be made available at the funeral home.
