Obituary of Bill Oliva
Ippolisto William 'Bill' Oliva entered into eternal life on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he served in the US Army as a staff sergeant in the artillery. He worked for 34 years for the NY Telephone Company, initially as an installer and later as a service foreman. He lived for 28 years in Staten Island, NY before moving to Shadow Lake Village in Middletown in 1993. Bill enjoyed gardening and his vegetable, rose and flower gardens over the years were a source of great pride for him. He enjoyed days at the racetrack during the summertime and trips to Atlantic City. He was an avid Yankees fan and Jets fan. Bill greatly loved all kinds of music and had a collection of hundreds of CD's and record, ranging from opera, to jazz, to country, to Italian and Irish folk music, just to mention a few. He was particularly moved by the culture of the American Indian and was a supporter of St. Labre Indian School, among many other charities. He loved cooking, especially on holidays, for his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Kathleen, in 2000, his father Louis Oliva and his mother, Gilda Oliva. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Gilda and Jim Picioccio, his 2 grandsons James and Daniel, and his sister Dorothy Senft. Visitation will be held Friday, April 15 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, April 16 at 10 AM at St. Leo the Great R.C. Church in Lincroft. Entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown.
