Obituary of Lena Rettagliata
LENA RETTAGLIATA, 85, of ABERDEEN entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Sunday January 23, 2011. Lena was born in Naples Italy on October 3, 1925 and came to United States when she was 3 years old where she resided in Red Bank. She worked at Bob and Irving in Asbury Park before she married and moved to Matawan where she became a loving mother and a wonderful home maker. Lena and her husband Joseph have been the owner and operator of Strathmore Cleaners for the past 48 years. She was a member of the Children of Mary at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Red Bank, A member and past president of the Ladie's Auxiliary Oakshade Fire Company in Matawan and a parishioner of St. Clements Catholic Church in Matawan where she was a member of the Alter Rosary Society. Lena and Joseph generously donated a shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the Basilian Fathers Church of Matawan which they had shipped in from Italy. Many people that have visited the shrine said their prayers had been answered. She enjoyed traveling on annual vacations with her family. She is prececeased by her parents, Frank and Carmela Trocchia and her brother Andrew Trocchia. She is survived by her loving husband Joseph of 53 years, two daughters and son-in-law, Roseanne Trevean of Aberdeen, Susan and Edward Idec of Elkton, Maryland and her grandson Anthony Trevean. She also leaves two brothers and three sisters, Dominick Trocchia and his wife Marie, Josephine Brown, Ann Hall, Salvatore Trocchia and his wife Lillian and Frances DeArmond and many nieces and nephews. The family invites all Lena's friends to come and celebrate her life with them and requests that Memorial gifts in Mrs. Rettagliata's memory be made to the American Diabetes Association 1160 Route 22 East, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
