Obituary of Charles Silver
Charles Silver, 83, of Aberdeen passed away on May 6, 2011, at home. Charles, who was known as Buddy, was born on January 4, 1928 in Kearny, NJ. He graduated from Kearny High School in 1945, and served in the Army in Korea from 1946-1948. Charles graduated from The George Washington University, and later completed his graduate work in psychology at Columbia University, where he met his wife, Adela, the love of his life. He worked at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation for 35 years, servingas the Director of the Psychology Department. He retired in 1994.Charles and Adela were married in December 1959 in Oriente, Cuba. They settled in Aberdeen, NJ with their four children, Adam, Andria, Laura and Elisabeth. Charles loved to travel and visited more than 60 countries. He loved photography and was an avid Giants and Knicks fan. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. Charles was pre-deceased by his parents, Abraham and Claire Silver, and his sisters Shirley Geltzeiler and Leah Raff. He is survived by his devoted wife Adela (Damien) Silver, his son& daughter-in-law, Adam& Judy Silver, his daughters and sons-in-law: Andria & Henry Wojtunik, Laura Jones, and Elisabeth & Scott Kratka, and his11 cherished grandchildren: Andre& Joshua Silver; Adam, Alexandria& Olivia Wojtunik; Brittany &Bailey Jones; Caroline, Catherine, Joseph & Jack Kratka. Charles' thoughtful and wise counsel will be missed by all. Visitation will be held at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 – South Holmdel Road, Holmdel on on Monday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be offered at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 9:30AM. Entombment will be in the Holmdel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Deborah Hospital, 20 Pine Mill Road, Brown Mills, NJ 08015.
