Obituary of David E. Carlson
David E. Carlson of Holmdel, NJ passed away on 2/28/16 at the age of 84. Born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, he and wife Theresa Carlson moved to Holmdel NJ after they wed to work for Bell Labs where he spent his entire career as an Electrical Engineer. David achieved his Bachelor degree from the University of Illinois and his Master’s degree from Columbia University in NYC. He was a member of the Standards Committee for Bell Labs and a published author. David and Theresa had the opportunity to travel the world for his job. David was a Marine during the Korean War and was an active member of the Holmdel Jaycees for many years. David is predeceased by his parents Eva Nelson and Martin Carlson and his son Kris Carlson. David is survived by his wife Theresa Carlson, daughter Vanessa Fitzpatrick and her husband Ken, daughter Lori Carlson, daughter in law Tammy Carlson. David was loved by ten grandchildren, Lori, Eric and wife Marisa, Jeff and wife Eileen, Mark, Kelly, Jay and wife Hannah, Erica, Jack, Mitch and Keith, as well as six great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at St. Benedict’s Church in Holmdel on Saturday March 5th at 1:00 PM. A private burial is planned by the family.
